We’re off to Italy... and not just as tourists, but as travelers! Over the next 105 days we’ll enjoy what the Italians call “il dolce far niente”, or “the sweetness of doing nothing”. Our plans are minimal. We’ll spend August with our relatives in Torre Orsina, September and October in Florence, and November in Rome. We found furnished apartments via the Internet, so we'll be able to really explore each city and get to live as a couple of locals. In addition to the art of Florence and the history of Rome, we’ll indulge ourselves in all the culinary wonders Italy has to offer. Vic will focus on figs and gelato while Cynthia’s attention will be on wine and truffles. In fact, we already have several restaurants lined up.
On the pages that follow we’ll do our best to bring you along on our journey through daily blogs, photos, and more. We haven't used this blog hosting site before, nor have we ever written a blog, so we hope that it will work well for everyone. I'm sure we'll get plenty of interesting comments on our journal. We will not have Internet access until we arrive in Florence in September. Not to worry, your patience will be rewarded with two full weeks of updates and photos once we’re settled in Tuscany.
Ciao!
