Our short stay in Roma has come to an end. Andrea, the guy who ran the Bed & Breakfast, arranged for a private car to take us to Fiumicino airport on Saturday morning at 07:45. This would give us plenty of time to make the 20-30 minute drive to the airport, make our way through security and check-in, and catch our 10:15 flight. Cinzia had all of our bags perfectly packed, as she always does. All of the purchases we made during these past 4 months were wrapped and tucked safely away in our baggage. We each had a shoulder bag, Cinzia had a medium sized check bag and a roll-aboard, I had a large check bag and a small duffle bag I brought along just in case we needed extra space. We used all of it.
With only a day or two left in Bologna it was time to redeem whatever points I had accumulated on my Bombocard at Bombocrep. With 68 point I could redeem 60 of them for 2 free bomboloni (doughnuts). I went for #47 Mascarpone e Amarena Fabbri and Cinzia selected #40 Nutella e Crema di Pistacchio. I'm coming home with 8 points on my card. During our stay we ate 20 crepes. Here's the list!
Holiday markets pop up all over the city. Some are small markets with only a few stalls. These are usually located near a church and run by the church. Larger markets are located in a piazza and draw all sorts of vendors. A few days ago this French holiday market set up in a small piazza. The stalls are impressive and look festive – much better than the generic white tents that are used in most markets. Although it was misting and the temperature was in the 50’s, we revisited the French holiday market to take a few photos and buy a few items.
