The last day in Torre Orsina we had lunch with Carlo, Orselina, their daughter, Enrica, and other friends and family. Carlo was a hunting buddy of Vic’s grandfather, Gianni, and visited him in Trenton, New Jersey, twice, many years ago. He invited us to his house one evening for dinner and then another day for lunch so he could show Vic a few pictures and tell him stories of Vic’s grandfather.
Enrica plays the part of a “Noble Woman” in the town’s Procession of San Teodore, so after lunch (which started at around 1:15pm and lasted about 3 hours) she had to get ready for the Procession. Vic went to watch billiards or play cards at the bar; I stayed to talk with Enrica. A woman came to do Enrica’s hair and other women who were also going to be in the procession came to get their hair done as well. After some discussion between the women (in Italian, of course) they asked me if I would like to be in the procession too. I jumped at the chance. One girl ran to find a dress (a little big but it would do) another had a scarf and flower pin that would do well and the girl doing the hair did a little something and added some jewelry on top.
